Head to the hills for Trento.
Nestled in the Italian Alps, Trento is a delightful escape in the summer, away from the heat and bustling crowds of Italy's tourist hotspots. And in December, Trento has a charming Christmas market and churches adorned with nativity scenes that capture the holiday spirit.
The historic center is walkable, inviting you to stroll its streets.
Just across from the train station is a picturesque park complete with a duck pond—ideal for a relaxing picnic, and, if you're there at the right time, you can browse through a local farmer's market.
You can take the quaint cable car ride up to panoramic viewpoints of the town's stunning alpine backdrop.
Trento also boasts the majestic Castle Buonconsiglio, brimming with exquisite old frescoes, and a top-notch science museum that intrigues visitors of all ages.
I've visited Trento several times, and I always enjoy it.
